Polar opposites
My two big kids are polar opposites. Caleb and I made a list today on the way home from school. Each of these things is actually true and only slightly exaggerated.
- Caleb is a boy. Elizabeth is a girl. Caleb figured that one out. Our public school tax dollars at work.
- Caleb would rather not talk to people more than absolutely necessary. He doesn’t see the point. Elizabeth never meets a stranger. Never. The lady in the next stall in the bathroom? Her best friend after five minutes of peeing.
- Elizabeth loves chocolate. I think its related to that girl thing from #1. Caleb really could go the rest of his life without ever eating chocolate again. Amazing.
- Elizabeth loves tomatoes. Spaghetti with tomato sauce is her favorite food. Caleb hates tomatoes. Hates them. He won’t touch red foods because he fears that they might once have been contaminated with tomatoes.
- Caleb is ultra-competitive. He makes perfect scores in school because he has to beat every one else in his class. Elizabeth doesn’t have a competitive bone in her body, except when it comes to competing with Caleb for attention. But I think that’s just plain old sibling rivalry. If Cain and Abel couldn’t work it out with no distractions, what hope do we have?
