I’m SO grown up already

Elizabeth to her lost-in-the-dark-ages parents:

“When can I get my ears PISED?” (that’s pierced, without the R)

Answer from mom:

“When you’re a lot older than 5.”

Thinking: I was 9 when I got my ears pierced, and that was after months of begging. My parents’ original mandate was 13.

Elizabeth, in her best dramatic whine:

“But everyone ELLLSSSE in my class has their ears PISED already!”

Caleb, not one to be left out of any discussion:

“Only like 5 people in my class have their ears pierced. Also, whenever girls get their ears pierced, they have to tell everybody. Like we care.”

It’s nice to know we have a normal girl and a normal boy living in our house. And it’s also nice to know things will only intensify in this direction for about the next 12 years.
