Do we get to pick the color?
Since Caleb so rarely says impulsively funny things, I find it absolutely necessary to write it down every time he does say something childish.
Yesterday, he slammed his finger in the door (this is not the funny part), and today when I picked him up from school, he told me his finger was itching. I explained that his skin was healing, and the itching means that he’s getting a new layer of skin.
“I’m getting new skin?” he asked. I assured him he was.
“What color will it be?” he wanted to know.
“Um, the same color as the rest of your skin,” I replied, wondering if he thought he might change to a different color. “Why?”
“I kind of hoped it would be tan,” he said. “I like tan skin.”
I like tan skin, too. If it were that easy to be tan, though, I think a whole industry of tanning products would be headed for bankruptcy.
Can I order that new skin in tan? What about forest green, so I can match my car? No?
