Principal for a Day

Caleb was Principal for a Day at his school last week, which is a real power trip for a seven-year-old. He won the award by earning the most reading points in the first grade, and they actually let him follow the principal around and make “principal decisions.” He wore a nametag that said “Mr. Byrd” and carried a clipboard around all day. It took us three days to deflate his head.

He even got to each lunch with the three elementary school principals at Mazzio’s. Mrs. O’Quinn, the principal at Perritt, told him he was going to go each lunch with three principals, and he said, “Four principals.” I don’t know where he gets that smart mouth–certainly not from me.
