Active or passive, I’m still not watching commercials

I recently read an article from Lost Remote titled “Are You an Ad Avoider?”

I also think that the estimate of 10-15 percent of 17-35 year olds who are ad avoiders is an extremely low number. We have DVR capabilities for our satellite television, and we always fast-forward through commercials when we have the chance. A friend actually records television shows and doesn’t begin watching them until at least 15 minutes after the show has started to build a “commercial buffer.”

I thought it was interesting that the study found that men are typically “active avoiders” while women with small children are “passive avoiders.” I see the point– it’s hard to pay attention to commercials when you’re trying to stop your toddler from putting the remote control in the toilet.

  1. We’re too cheap to have DVR…but I still avoid the commercials. That’s my time to jump up and tend to laundry, load the dishwasher, tidy a room…and now that I live in England, make a cup of tea. ;) That way I don’t feel like I have wasted an hour after watching a show.
