I am such a hypocrite
My kids are touring, um, visiting Vacation Bible Schools with two different friends this week, since our church doesn’t have a VBS. Caleb is visiting a missionary Baptist church, and Ellie is visiting a Methodist church– the two programs couldn’t be more different.
When I went to pick Ellie up from VBS last night, I noticed the VBS director was wearing a t-shirt with the Dooce logo on it. My first thought was, “That is so cool. Somebody else in Arkadelphia has actually heard of Dooce!”
My next thought was, “That is so inappropriate. I can’t believe she wore a Dooce shirt to church. Dooce is really anti-religion.”
The final progression in my thought process was, “I am such a hypocrite. I read Dooce almost every day, and I think it’s inappropriate to wear a Dooce shirt to church.”
However, I must admit that I’m less judgmental than my Pharisee 8-year-old, who chastised his sister for going to VBS at a Methodist church and told us, “I really don’t like visiting VBS programs that don’t use Lifeway curriculum.”

So, I think your *admission* is pretty funny…but I am LOL at Caleb’s quote. He’s Southern Baptist to the core, eh?
Caleb went to the Southern Baptist Convention with my parents last year, and was enthralled. He is such a fundamentalist.
looks great
