Big changes

We are preparing to move right after Christmas. I’ve alluded to this in a couple of posts, but I’ve been a little hesitant to post about it directly because things were still a little unsettled.

The past few months have been crazy. Lannie accepted a new job at UAMS in Little Rock and began consulting there for three afternoons a week while he finished out the semester at Ouachita. He planned to start full-time in January.

Then about a month ago, he received a call from his friend Eric at the Commercial Appeal in Memphis. Eric offered him a job as online editor. Lannie has wanted this job for the past year or two, but it didn’t look like the timing would ever be right for him to take it. Eric asked him to start in January.

Since he was still just consulting with UAMS and we hadn’t moved yet, Lannie decided to take the job at the Commercial Appeal. It has been a little hard to explain to people that we were going to move to Little Rock but now we’re going to move to Memphis. Still, this is Lannie’s dream job, and I couldn’t be more excited for him!

Here’s the best part: I get to be a stay-at-home mom! I’ve wanted to stay home with Phillip for the past two years, and I can hardly believe that it’s finally going to work out.

Somehow, having three kids– especially having a new baby– has made it so much harder to be a working mom. I’ve really felt like I haven’t performed well at any of my jobs (mom, wife or employee). I am so excited about being able to concentrate on doing a couple of things well instead of doing too many things poorly. I can’t think of anything I’d rather do really well than be a great mom!

So, I guess I need to change the title of my blog. Any suggestions?

  1. So excited for y’all. It’s nice when it’s not a burden to take your dream job.
