Phillip is beginning to grasp the concept of Christmas, slowly but surely. Not that he understands the “reason for the season,” but at least he’s figuring out the purpose of Santa Claus.

His teachers at daycare have picked up on his desire to “be a cowboy” for Christmas, and they have convinced him to ask Santa Claus to complete the outfit by asking for a cowboy hat and boots. Lannie and I found him a really cute pair of boots, so I think he will have a Merry Christmas.

He has now taken to “asking” Santa Claus for cowboy boots whenever he sees Santa on TV. Last night we were watching “The Rockettes Christmas Spectacular,” and when Santa came onstage, Phillip ran up to the screen, pointed his finger at the TV and commanded, “Bring me boots for Christmas!”

Now we just have to get him to say, “Please.”
