Hillbillies come to town
Today I discovered there are definite advantages to being just down the street from literally every store and restaurant in Memphis (or at least a satellite branch). I had bought several muffin mixes, intending to make muffins for supper this week, only to find that we don’t have any muffin pans in the apartment. So, I packed up the kids and went over to Target, because it was convenient!
Do you know how long it’s been since a Target has been convenient for me? At least 9 years. I feel kind of like a hillbilly come to town, but nothing was close for us in Arkadelphia. We had to drive at least 30 minutes if we wanted to shop anywhere but Wal-Mart or Atwoods. I used a Target gift card today that’s been in my purse for over 2 months– that’s how convenient Target was in the past.
Of course, there are also disadvantages to living on the highway to retail heaven. If I leave any store between the hours of 4 and 6, for example, I might end up waiting 15 minutes just to turn left.
Also, the last time we lived over here, Lannie and I lived like royalty courtesy of American Express. My mom asked me yesterday why would anyone chose to cook when we are surrounded by restaurants?
Yup. That’s why I bought a muffin pan with a gift card.
